A delightful and surprising experience Cristobal is a wonderful person who turns the tour into a truly immersive experience. What surprised me the most was that he not only talks about the history of Mexico in general but also delves into its different states and how their history influences the local gastronomy.Throughout the tour, he takes us to various restaurants and taquerías, allowing us to savor flavors, textures, aromas, and the essence of places rich in tradition—featuring recipes passed down from generation to generation. The group I joined for the activity was very diverse. I was fortunate to meet two wonderful people from Canada who shared my love for food and my curiosity about the place. I realized that, despite having very different lives in every way, food has the power to unite cultures and people.Beyond being a guide, Cristobal is an exceptional host who ensures that everyone feels included and valued throughout the experience. I was truly amazed!

What an experience!! Cristobal was our guide and was outstanding!! So knowledgeable about the origin/history of each dish. Lots of walking between “hidden gem” restaurants that are off the “beaten path”. Cristobal would explain everything outside a particular restaurant and then we would go in and enjoy. We then moved on to the next one. Difficult to pick a favorite as they were all so unique. Highly recommend! Would absolutely do again!

Great activity for a cloudy morning Spent a cloudy morning sampling delicious food. Cristobal is a great guide and shared some stories about the family restaurants and stands we visited. The frutaria had the sweetest grapefruit I've ever tasted.

A Magical and Unforgettable Food Tour in Puerto Morelos The Puerto Morelos Foodie Tour with Chris was an absolute delight from start to finish! Exploring this side of Puerto Morelos was an adventure for the senses—every stop brought new flavors, textures, and stories that made the experience truly special. From the flavorful Sinaloa chicken to the zesty Aguachile, and from the perfectly seasoned sirloin tacos to the rich and savory al pastor, every bite was a revelation. Chris was not only knowledgeable about the cuisine but also inquisitive and engaging, making the tour feel collaborative and immersive. One of the best parts was the camaraderie—we laughed, shared our own food traditions, and connected over our love for great flavors. Along the way, we learned so much about the Yucatán region, the deep-rooted history of Mexican cuisine, and the cultural significance of each dish. This tour was magical, special, and fun in every way. I can't recommend it highly enough and would gladly do it again. If you're visiting Puerto Morelos, this is an experience you absolutely cannot miss!

¡Lo hice de nuevo! Totalmente recomendable ¡Lo hice de nuevo! Totalmente recomendable.

17:40 PM – 18:15 PM: Sinaloa-Style Chicken.

It is time to start the tour learning a little bit of Mexican history and the incredible story of the region in Quintana Roo and Yucatan Peninsula.

For the very first taste, the Sinaloa style to cook the chicken is very popular all over Mexico, made originally in one of the northern states of Mexico, Sinaloa, has become very popular everywhere in Mexico. The very simple process, but not necessarily easy, make the chicken so tender and flavorful. Also is served with different provisions, we will discover how it is served here in the Yucatan Peninsula.

3

18:20 PM – 18:40 PM: Ceviche Nayarit and Empanadas.

It is time to taste one dish that is very popular in all Latin America, ceviche, but in Mexico match perfectly with the chili pepper flavor. Nayarit, state in the pacific coast, offers one excellent option to learn more about the sea food and the amazing way to make ceviche.

The other dish here is empanadas, we´ll find out how these empanadas are different from other very popular versions and how the seafood goes amazingly well in the empadas Pacific Coast style.

4

18:45 PM – 19:00 PM: Asada Tacos

The best meat in Mexico is found at the north of the country, and this friends and family traveled all their way to this region, bringing with them the most delicious asada tacos in town. Delicious and tender meat, all grilled and served with corn tortillas, fresh and spicy salsas, cilantro, onion, lime juice…simply irresistible.

5

19:10 PM – 20:00 PM: Al Pastor and Mexican Sweet Finale

If you´ve heard of al pastor tacos then you know we have to taste these delicious ambassadors of Mexican cuisine, and we know the best place in Puerto Morelos. When the light is going down the square starts to feel and see more alive, different treats are sold in carts around the square. Sweet bread, crystalized fruits, merengues, paletas and of course churros, this fantastic fried dough cover with sugar and cinnamon are so far the best in the region! After this we will leave close to the grocery store, just in case you want to buy a souvenir or some interesting Mexican product to cook something delicious at home. We are happy to help make arrangements for taxis or if you want to spend the next few hours wandering and doing some shopping in the handcraft stores, we´ll help you to find the way!

My wife and I took the Puerto Morelos Food Tour with Chef Chris on October 15, 2021.
We have bought a home in Puerto Morelos and wanted to acclimate ourselves to Puerto Morelos Colonia Side especially in regards to the local business’s and Chris came strongly recommended.
Chris is intelligent, well spoken and has a great passion and knowledge of the Mexican culture.
This was much more than a food tour it was dinner out with a friend and a great conversationalist. Chris not only help us experience great local foods but at the same time gave us an accounting of the Mexican Riviera’s history and the cultural migration of Mexican people to this area from the various regions and spoke with reverence of the Maya peoples and how this all tied into the local cuisine.
Such surprisingly wonderful food and great tastes, this tour really opened our minds to the local business’s and since we have gone back for seconds and appreciate the quality of food and tastes that I have never experienced before!
We are grateful we took this tour it was a great start to get to know and understand a little better about the community.
We could see that Chris’s message resonated a sense of pride, dignity and respect for the local people in Puerto Morelos.
Thank you Chris from Ken and Laurie

Fabulous tour, we learned so much about many different aspects of Mexico. It was lots of fun and interesting too. Cristobal was a wonderful tour guide and took us to several interesting places that I don’t think we would of otherwise stopped at. Thank you for making the tour such fun.
